Eternal Flame

This song is still just an idea for one of my final ideas. I have not decided on it as of yet. My reasons for having it in my top choices though is that it is sung by an all female band which greatly demonstrates the voice as a predominate instrument as all 4 of the members sing as well as play another instrument. I really think that if I chose to perform this it would be great for me to have someone backing me up also with vocals.

This band is a small ensemble and fits nicely with the topic we are studying which is, in fact, small ensembles. Mr Kuilenberg, one of my teachers suggested that I do this song in performance, after I spoke to him about doing it for my compulsory Viva Voce this term.

White Houses

I have chosen this piece of music because I have loved the song for quite a while. It is a pop song so I would have to create my own version to it, so as not to make it boring. The tempo of the song does change every now and then, although it is always quite fast. There is a great range, which would allow my voice space to grow throughout my HSC course.

One of the main reasons I chose this song is because I am less comfortable singing in a higher register, so this song will allow my voice to change and give me ample practise to strengthen my upper register.

By The Sea

I have chosen this song to be apart of my Performance Component for my HSC Course because I enjoy performing musical theatre. Another reason I have chosen this song  to be apart of my course is that the time signature is unusual and gives me an opportunity to perform something I’m not yet comfortable with. The speed of this song changes rapidly and from previous practise of this song by myself and with a tutor, I have deduced I will need some regular breathing exercises to be able to sing this song with my full potential.

Time Signature

5
8  Time signature is more complicated than a time signature in 3, 4 or 6.

Time signatures in 3, 4 and 6 are generally known as simple time signatures and are easier for people to comprehend because it is quite repetitive and simple to understand how the music moves. For example, Popular songs are quite often in 4 4 time, otherwise known as Common Time. 5 4 time signature is known as a complex time signature, while 5 8 is classified as a Mixed Time Signature.

Time signatures is 3, 4 andare easier to comprehend by the listeners, although boring to compose or play for the musicians. These time signatures are easier to put together and pull apart and pulling these time signatures apart and putting them together in other ways to make a more complicated sound can easily trick listeners into thinking songs are simple.

This is a cover of Yellow, by Coldplay, that I recorded a WHILE ago. It’s not the best, but it’s relevant to my current state of mind. This song always gives me that wonderful feeling of longing/despair, if you know what I mean. I’ll sit here and continue to torture myself over you.

It is finally here, my dedicated and loyal followers, just as we promised. We finally sat down and re-recorded the song that you guys have been asking for. We first recorded this song 3 years ago in a bedroom, and haven’t even thought of touching the recording since, but after seeing the wonderful feedback we got on the video our friend Luca Venter made we decided to head back to it, and here it is, matured voices and all. Just wait for the originals we have in store.
